The Blue Hill Concert Association is pleased to present a concert of the Fauré Quartett. The piano quartet will perform a concert by Romantic greats Gustav Mahler, Gabriel Fauré, and Johannes Brahms. The quartet includes violinist Erika Geldsetzer, violist Sascha Frömbling, cellist Konstantin Heidrich, and pianist Dirk Mommertz.
The Fauré Quartett is visionary in their approach and highly regarded for their experiments and discoveries. They have worked on both classic and modern projects, performing in places from the Concertgebouw Amsterdam to youth programs in New York City. They met during their studies in 1995 for the 150th anniversary of Gabriel Fauré, and they quickly realized that their combination of instrumentation and creativity offered new insights into undiscovered repertoire. They have made benchmark recordings of works by Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn, as well as pieces by Steely Dan. The Fauré Quartett has established itself as one of the world’s leading piano quartets. The members teach at the universities of Berlin, Wuerzburg, and Munich.
The concert will held at Blue Hill Congregational Church, on Sunday afternoon, March 23, at 3:00pm. The church is located at 22 Tenney Hill in Blue Hill.
Tickets, $35, can be purchased at the door or on the website, www.bluehillconcertassociation.org. Young people under 21 get free admission.
During the intermission, the audience can enjoy artistic works by students of the Deer Isle–Stonington High School art department and learn about our featured cultural institution, Opera House Arts in Stonington.
