On May 22, the Deer Isle Artists Association DIAA will open its summer season with a benefit show, “In Praise of Hands.” A wide variety of mediums will be represented by artists from around the peninsula. As a special scholarship show, money from sales will be used to fund scholarships for local students so that they may participate in art activities throughout the school year.
Artists participating in this show are Cynthia Bourque Simonds, Betsy Braunhut, Mary Eaton, Jill Kofton, David Kofton, David McBeth, Carolyn Raedle, David Simonds, and Pat White. In the art rack are works by Betsy Braunhut and Leslie Landrigan. Visitors will find baskets, pottery, fiber, paintings, and more throughout the gallery, which is located at 15 Main Street in Deer Isle Village.
“In Praise of Hands” runs from May 22 through June 3. A reception with the artists will take place on Sunday, May 27, from 3:00 to 5:00. 207- 348- 2330.
