Picturing Maine: A Postcard History program
Wednesday, May 22, 2019 @ 4 p.m.
Please join us at Deer Isle’s Chase Emerson Memorial Library at 17 Main St., when Dr. Libby Bischof, Professor of History and Director of the Osher Map Library at University of Southern Maine, will look at how the concept of “Maine” and specifically the Deer Isle region, was created visually, focusing on postcard imagery. Dr. Bischof is also the creator of the Maine Postcard Project, which promotes the history and resurgence of postcards as a communication device. This program is part of “The World in Your Library” programs, sponsored by the Maine Humanities Council. For more information on this free and enriching program, please contact the Library at 207-348-2899 or deerislelibrary@gmail.com.
