Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries and Discovery Wharf

Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries is a nonprofit organization that works to secure a diversified fishing future for the communities of Eastern Maine and beyond. We do this by developing and implementing innovative programs that provide value for today’s fishermen and drive more sustainable management approaches for future fisheries. An essential component of our work is connecting the knowledge of fishermen, the findings of scientists, and the world of policymakers.

It provides visitors with a variety of interactive experiences ranging from hands-on learnings about various sea creatures in our touch tank, to the first­ hand stories about life on the sea by our Captain Leroy, to the virtual reality experiences of being on a lobster boat or in a river filled with migrating alewives.
